Is Party Wall PlanCheck really free?

Yes. The assessment and the notice pack are free. You only pay for surveying work if your neighbour dissents and a Party Wall Award is required.

Do I need a Party Wall notice for my extension?

You are likely to need notice if you are building on or at the boundary, cutting into or altering a shared wall, or excavating near a neighbouring building. PlanCheck assesses your project against Sections 1, 2 and 6 of the Party Wall etc. Act 1996.

What if my information is not enough to be sure?

PlanCheck never guesses. Where the information supplied is insufficient it returns 'surveyor review required' and a qualified surveyor reviews it free of charge.

Who reviews the results?

Party Wall Hub is an FPWS and RPSA-registered party wall surveying practice. Results are produced by a deterministic rules engine and escalated to a surveyor when needed.

Party Wall legislation can depend on matters that may not be apparent from architectural drawings, including boundary ownership, existing foundation depths and site conditions. Where the position is unclear, we recommend surveyor review.
